How to JoinJoining ASC is not for the weak. Students are required to write an essay, complete an application, and undergo an extensive interview process. But for many, the work is worth it. ASC is what you make it.
|
ApplicationsStudents applying for membership must attend an information meeting. Failure to attend this meeting disqualifies you from the application process for that year. Applications will be obtained at this meeting and intent to apply forms will be returned at the end.
Students currently in 8th, 9th, and 10th grade are allowed to apply. |
Essay and InterviewBeyond the application, students will be required to turn in an essay about why they would be an asset to ASC. In addition, all applicants who meet all the deadlines and have a properly filled out application will attend an interview. This interview is handled by Advisors, ASC alums, and outgoing members to ensure that new members are held to the highest standard.

Evaluations
Every piece of the process is given a numerical value of 1-5 based on rubrics and scores. For example, the teacher recommendation form is averaged and this score is factored into the other scores. Teacher evaluations must meet a 3.5 or higher to meet minimum requirements. All other factors must meet on a 3.5 scale or higher to be considered as well.
